West Springfield High School will be administering the Science MCAS Exam on Monday and Tuesday, June 2 and 3. This exam is required by the Commonwealth, and students taking the Science MCAS must achieve a score of 220 or better to be eligible to receive a high school diploma. This exam will be administered primarily to students in grade 9, but select students in grades 10 and 11 will also be taking the exam. Unlike the Mathematics and English Language Arts Exams, the Science MCAS schedule does not impact when students are expected to arrive to school. All students must be in school by 7:20 on these dates.
Students should be well-prepared for the exam, as teachers have been working extremely hard to see that all students have the knowledge and skills necessary to pass. Please ensure that students participating in the exam get a good night's rest the night before and eat well the morning of the exam.
Please be advised that in order to qualify for the John & Abigail Adams Scholarship, beginning with the Class of 2016, Science MCAS scores will be factored into eligibility determinations.
Any questions about participation in the exam should be directed to the high school Guidance office at 263-3478.
