Community and Family Engagement
Mission Statement
The West Springfield Community and Family Engagement (CAFE) is available to support all families in our culturally diverse community, identifying and serving high needs families that are not engaged in the formal early education and care system is a priority of the grant. CAFE promotes the Strengthening Families Protective Factors which are: parental resilience, social connections, knowledge of parenting and child development, concrete support in times of need, and healthy social and emotional development in children. This is accomplished through regular occuring playgroups, parent workshops, literacy programs, transitional support programs, resource and referral information and much more.
Coordinated Family and Community Engagement is funded by the Department of Early Education and Care. The CFCE grant provides families with access to locally available comprehensive services and supports that strengthen families, promote optimal child development, and bolster school readiness.
The CFCE goals are to support families and caregivers as their child's first teacher, to provide families with connections to locally based comprehensive services, evidence-based early literacy opportunities, educational experiences rooted in the science of child development, and support to promote successful early childhood transitions.
